A MAN threatened to stab a youth as he rode his bike.

The youth was riding his blue and silver BMX bike along a snicket off Weymouth Avenue, Oakes, at about 3.15pm on Sunday afternoon when the man approached him.

The man refused to move as the youth tried to pass.

He then threatened to stab him if he did not hand over the bike.

He also demanded the youth's NEC 338 mobile phone and then rode off.

The suspect is a mixed-race African Caribbean, aged about 20.

He is 5ft 8in tall and of medium build.

He had black hair, a pointed nose and chin and a thin moustache.

He was wearing a red tracksuit and white trainers and had a gold sovereign ring on the middle finger of his right hand.
