A masked knifeman threatened staff during a terrifying robbery at Thomas Cook travel agents in Cleckheaton.

The robber burst into the Bradford Road store and shouted at the two female staff to hand over cash or they would get hurt.

One of the assistants was on the phone at the time and he shouted at her: “Get off the phone, this is a robbery.”

He then produced a knife and moved towards the Bureau de Change where the second assistant was behind the counter.

He shouted: “Give me the money or she will get hurt.”

The assistant handed over a sum of cash and the suspect fled on foot.

Both female staff were shaken but unhurt during the ordeal which happened at 5pm on Thursday.

Det Insp Andy Leonard, of Kirklees CID, said: “Two female staff were in the Bradford Road store when a man walked in.
