MIRFIELD-BORN actor Patrick Stewart was among the stars presenting the Laurence Olivier Awards.

Mary Poppins star Laura Michelle Kelly, won the award for best actress. Mary Poppins had been nominated for nine awards, but came away with just two - the other went to Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear for best choreography.
Mel Brooks' hit show The Producers pipped it to the post with three awards, including best new musical.
Its stars, Nathan Lane and Lee Evans, were up against one another for best actor in a musical. The prize went to Lane, who was a last-minute stand-in for Richard Dreyfuss.
Conleth Hill, who played flamboyant director Roger DeBris, won the award for best supporting role in a musical.
Alan Bennett's The History Boys also won three awards, best new play, best actor for Richard Griffiths and best director for Nicholas Hytner. Bennett also picked up the Outstanding Achievement Award.
