POLICE believe this stone was stolen in Yorkshire.

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary in Burnley stopped a stolen silver Vauxhall Vectra car in Colne at 1.30am on Monday.

They discovered a large amount of Yorkshire stone inside and arrested the three men in the car.

They now believe the stone was stolen from somewhere in Yorkshire on Sunday night.

A Lancashire Constabulary spokesman said: “The stone was of good quality and looked as if it had been recently cut and dressed to be used for renovation or building work.’’

The three men have now been charged with offences relating to the theft of the stone.

The owner of the stone or anyone with information should contact Det Con Craig Smedley or Pc Chris Shaw at Burnley Police Station on 0845 125 3545.
