A TOWN centre store in Huddersfield has moved premises.

Accessories shop Claire's has moved to the Kingsgate Centre from the Piazza.

A spokeswoman for the retailer said the shop needed more space to display a wider range of goods.

She said: "The new 1,200sq ft unit will appear cleaner, brighter and more organised.

"As there will be such a broad range on offer, we expect a wider range of buyers - not only teens but older sisters and mums."

Claire's sells fashion jewellery, cosmetics, hair accessories, belts and bags.

The move was welcomed by Kingsgate centre manager Jonathan Hardy, who said: "We are delighted to have them aboard."

Elsewhere in the centre, JD Sports has moved into the former All Sports store - and Mr Hardy reported strong interest in another empty unit.

Three other empty units remain in the hands of administrators or tenants, but Mr Hardy said: "We are very confident of finding new tenants for those sites once we can take possession.

"The difficult period after Christmas has now passed and retailers have renewed enthusiasm for taking units."
