MORRISONS supermarket in Waterloo has contributed to the chain’s £1m target to help beat asthma.
The store has raised £2,552 for Asthma UK, Morrisons’ Charity of the Year – which is voted for by the company’s 114,000 staff.
The funds will be used to conduct research and support services such as the Asthma UK Adviceline and Kick Asthma Holidays for young people.
Throughout 2007, employees and customers at the store raised money through a range of activities, including mobile phone recycling, in-store collections and selling pin badges featuring Bagpuss, the charity’s mascot.
General manager Val Forbes said: “We have had great fun raising the money and I would like to thank my colleagues and customers, who have worked so hard and donated so generously to achieve this total.”
