HANS Christian Andersen wrote many fairytale books and his work is to be celebrated in Huddersfield.

The celebration marks his birth in 1805.

It was only when he had failed to be an artist, singer and actor that Andersen found poetry and established his art of writing.

Readings will be held at several places.
