A TEENAGER was punched in the face during a street robbery.

The 18-year-old, from Lepton, was walking on Woodlands Road East at Fenay Bridge when he felt a tap on his back at 10pm on Friday.

He turned round and a youth standing behind him tried to speak to him.

The 18-year-old carried on walking, but the next moment the youth attacked him and hit him in the face.

He fell to the ground and the mugger demanded money.

The victim handed over £10 and the attacker walked away.

The teenager then noticed the thug was with three other youths.

The victim suffered a bruised eye and his glasses were smashed.

The attacker is African- Caribbean, aged 16 to 18, about 5ft 10in tall and skinny.

He wore a black hooded top and a black baseball cap.

The three youths with him were all white and casually dressed.
