STROKE survivors enjoyed a cruise along the Calder and Hebble Navigation.

Twenty-three people enjoyed the trip from Mirfield to Brighouse.

Stroke survivor Lisa Wood, 40, from Golcar, said: “The trip was a very enjoyable experience. It certainly beats sitting at home.”

The group travelled along the canal to Brighouse on July 15. The trip was organised by the Stroke Association. Co-ordinator Liz Isles said: “It was a very enjoyable day out and gave people the opportunity to try something they hadn’t done before.

“The group said they hadn’t felt as relaxed in ages and that it was like being in another world. The trip wouldn’t have been possible without the Safe Anchor Trust, it is an incredible organisation and its team of volunteers are very caring and helpful.”

The Safe Anchor Trust was set up in 1995 to give the elderly, people with health problems and people with learning difficulties access to the waterways.
