WORKERS at a Meltham company made a splash when they took part in the World Water Bombing Championships.

The four-strong team from wall cladding company Structherm Ltd came second in the light-hearted diving competition held at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.

Eleven teams of four – wearing fancy dress – took part in the event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Structherm Splashers – technical manager Ben Edmondson, marketing executive Damian Haigh, internal business development executive Gillian Pike and building systems technician Andy Carter – raised £334. That sum was then doubled by parent company Hanson Heidelberg Cement Group to £668.

Teams were judged on their costumes, diving board antics and the “bomb” itself.

The competing teams raised £4,396 for the charity.
