STUDENTS from Shelley College are celebrating success.

Students of English language and literature, leisure and tourism and business studies were successful in module exams, with some achieving outstanding results.

Nick Ridley scored 100 marks out of 100 in his marketing module for GNVQ intermediate leisure and tourism.

Jamie White and Ryan Geldart, second year A-level business studies students, achieved 90 out of 90.

Stephen Boddy, head of business education said: "These are excellent results from three outstanding sixth-form students."

Fifteen students, who have been working on the AS language and literature course since Year 10, studied The Colour Purple by Alice Walker and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

They all received pass grades. Six were at grade A, two at grade B, three at grade C, two at grade D and two at grade E.

Cathy Tute was awarded 103 marks out of 105.

Jacqui Hill, head of English, said the college was delighted with their success.

The students are now working towards their two final modules, studying the poems of Robert Frost and presenting a portfolio of original writing.
