KIRKLEES College’s revamped Hair Academy is a cut above.

The Market Street hairdressing salon in Huddersfield town centre has just undergone a £20,000 face-lift. Students and customers were impressed with their new surroundings when the salon for trainee hairdressers re-opened.

The salon now has two extra styling stations, taking the total to 14. The refurbishment also included a new reception counter, new chairs, new shelving units, new signage and a new colour scheme.

Lisa Buckley, head of hair and beauty at Kirklees College said: “The students and customers are really pleased with the new look salon. As this is a public-facing service, we need it to look as professional as possible to fit with the professional service we train our students to provide.

“We hope that this boost will help to attract more new customers and give our students plenty of opportunity to use their skills.”

Student Hollie Mina, 20, said: “The salon is much better and more appealing.

“It’s much nicer than before as it looks more professional, more up-to-date and more modern.

“The clients have said they prefer the chairs as they are more comfortable”.
