HAIRDRESSING students from Huddersfield Technical college entered the National Hairdressing competition in Blackpool.

The competition covered 25 different categories.

Last year students from the college achieved sixth place.

Course Tutor, Mandy Lodge said: "The competition is held annually and this year we entered mature students who are in their second year.

"This year the students have worked tremendously hard in preparing for the event.

"They have put in a great deal of practice, planned well and were suitably organised".

The Huddersfield students were Angela Blackburn and Rachael Hardaker.

Rachel said: "Both Angela and myself entered the `everyday cut' competition, which was one of the possible 25 categories available.

"The particular category involved us cutting and colouring our model's hair before the competition, we were required to blow wave the hair on the day.

"We were then marked on our quality of cut, the use of colours and the overall finish".
