HUDDERSFIELD Technical College is helping overseas students discover the delights of British life.
Foreign students have been coming to the college in increasing numbers for several years.
This year 35 students are on summer English language courses. They come from China, Germany, Poland, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Turkey, Taiwan, France and Jordan.
Some are on a two-month course, which started in June, while others are only studying for a month.
Students who want to study other subjects at the college or at Huddersfield University from September follow an intensive study scheme.
Those on the lower level programme enjoy more fun visits to local places of interest, to help them learn about the culture of Huddersfield and life in Britain.
Foreign students also flock to the college during term time.
Many study A-level subjects or vocational courses to prepare for university, but learn English alongside this work.
During September, 2002, to June, 2003, there were 163 term time foreign students. They included students from China, Hungary, Turkey, Jordan, the Czech Republic, Jamaica, Italy and Hong Kong.
