EIGHT students of Moor End Technology College made a grand entrance on their prom night when they arrived in a fire engine.

The friends – Laura Beaumont, Natalie Furey, Jemma Phipps, Melanie O’Connor, Lyndsey Siswick, Leah Devlin, Katie Blackmore, Leanne Kilkenny – all live in the Crosland Moor area.

They wanted a special vehicle to travel to the evening at Bertie’s Banqueting Suite in Elland and decided to hire a fire engine.

Laura’s mum Helen said: “They wanted to be different and make an entrance and they certainly did that.

“We hired the fire engine over the internet and the driver was great.

“He drove up and down the road so they could wave to the neighbours. They looked beautiful. The only problem was climbing in their prom gowns and tiaras!”
