METROPOLITAN Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair has criticised West Midlands Police for using a Taser stun gun on a man suspected of the failed London bombings.

He claimed it could have detonated any bomb.

Sir Ian, whose force shot dead Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes in the false belief he was a suicide bomber, was speaking on a BBC News special programme last night.

He defended shooting to kill and said the Taser shot at Yasin Hassan Omar - arrested in a raid at a Birmingham flat on Wednesday at around 5.10am - was an "incredible risk".
