SUPERMARKETS in Huddersfield are celebrating the success of a campaign to donate school equipment.

Since the Active Kids scheme began, Sainsbury’s have given more than £700,000 of sports and activity equipment to schools, clubs and nurseries.

A total of 140 of these registered for this year’s campaign.

Earlier this year shoppers collected vouchers for them in the town’s Shorehead and Market Street stores. The vouchers could then be exchanged for the equipment.

Managers Andy Stanbridge and Mick Hepworth said: “Our customers have really helped make a difference to schools, clubs and nurseries across Huddersfield through donating Active Kids vouchers this year. We’d like to thank them for their support in our campaign.

“We hope organisations are happy with this year’s array of equipment which we hope will make a positive contribution to their learning and well-being.”

More than £115m worth of Active Kids equipment has now been donated nationwide.
