TWO students were surprised to be awarded top prizes as they picked up their degrees.
Katie Atkins won the Geoff Sparks Prize for the best overall dissertation in the division of sociology and criminology.
Sheryl Collins won the British Psychological Society Prize for psychology, attaining the highest mark in her final year project.
Prof Brendan Evans and Dr Trevor Butt were both given emeritus titles at the ceremony at Huddersfield Town Hall yesterday.
