A FIRE in a Huddersfield mill is being treated as suspicious.
Police alerted fire crews to the blaze at the mill on Albert Street, Lockwood, at 5.45am today.
Crew Manager John Wilkinson, of Huddersfield fire station, said: "There were three seats of fire and textile material was burning.
"The fire had melted plastic skylights, which then allowed hot gases to vent through the top of the building."
Crews used thermal cameras to track down the source of the fires. The building is used as a warehouse.
* A fire badly smoke- logged a Kirkburton mill.
Fire crews from Skelmanthorpe and Huddersfield went to Whitley Willows Mill on Penistone Road at 2.30am today.
A fire in two containers filled with bath mats had triggered the alarm and the sprinkler system.
The sprinklers confined the flames, which were doused by firefighters.
They then used a giant fan to blow the smoke out.
