PEOPLE have been splashing out for charity at a sponsored swim.

The swimathon was held at Salendine Nook Pool. It was organised by the Colne Valley Lions Club and was sponsored by the Dusty Miller Inn at Longwood.

The Lions recruited teams of six to eight swimmers.

Each swimmer completed at least one pool length, working in a relay system with their team mates.

In total, more than 100 children took part, including teams from schools, Brownie, Guides and Scout groups. The Lions also had a team. Some of the swimmers are pictured taking a break at the poolside.

The teams swam a total of 20 miles.

Each team split their sponsorship money between the Lions' charity - the Yorkshire Air Ambulance - and a good cause of their own choice.

These included the RSPCA, Guides Dogs for the Blind and sponsoring children in Uganda.
