A MOUNTAIN rescue team helped out after a Golcar man fell from an embankment.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was walking home at about 4.45am yesterday when he slipped and fell down a steep slope near Golcar Royal British Legion Club on Scar Lane.
He landed in a wooded area below, but he was disorientated in the darkness and could not make his way out.
He rang the emergency services from his mobile phone, saying he was freezing and could not feel the left side of his body. The phone battery then ran out.
Police could not find him and called in the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue team.
After almost three hours, the team found the man, who was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
He was not thought to have serious injuries, but was suffering from the effects of the cold.
