SPORTY children from around Kirklees have excelled at the West Yorkshire Youth Games.
The Kirklees under- 15s girls basketball team and a mixed under-10s tennis squad battled to victory at the Beckett Park sports complex in Leeds on Sunday.
The district athletics team, including members from Longley and Lydgate special schools, came second overall.
More than 150 youngsters from Kirk- lees took part in the event, which saw about 1,200 youngsters compete in 11 disciplines.
They included basketball, tennis and athletics, football, gymnastics, and hockey.
The games are held every year for the five local authorities of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
