A TEENAGER was badly hurt in a terrifying attack on a Huddersfield street.

The 17-year-old victim was walking along Park Road in Crosland Moor at 10.30pm on Sunday when he was challenged by a man who then punched him in the face.

As the youngster fell to the ground his ear is thought to have caught a wall, ripping a chunk out of it.

Once on the ground the thug then hit him across his face with an iron bar.

The frightened victim threw his Samsung D500 phone at the robber in a bid to get him off.

The mugger picked the phone up and ran down a snicket towards Moorside Avenue still clutching the iron bar.

The victim was left battered and bruised.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of KIrklees CID intelligence unit, said: “This was a motiveless, unprovoked and vicious attack. If anyone saw what happened or has any information we would urge them to call us immediately.’’

The attacker spoke with a foreign accent and has an oval face, a distinctive pointed nose and short, cropped black hair.

He wore a black hooded top and black trainers.
