A 17-YEAR-old youth was robbed of his mobile phone in broad daylight by a gang of men.

The robbery happened in Trinity Street at about 2.15pm on Tuesday when the boy and his two friends were insulted by three men as they neared the bottom gates of Greenhead Park.

The boy and his friends ignored the insults and continued walking.

They were then approached by the same three men at the junction of Vernon Avenue and Mountjoy Road.

One of the men threatened the boy and demanded his mobile phone, a BlackBerry Curve, before leaving in the direction of Mountjoy Road.

The three suspects involved are all white.

The man who demanded the phone is around 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall, in his late teens to early 20s, of chubby build, with brown hair.

He had slurred speech which made him seem as if he was either drunk or he has a speech impediment and he wore a black hooded top.

One of the other men is in his early 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, of skinny build, with blond hair which is short at the sides and top but longer at the back.

He has a scraggly beard. He also had a distinctive silver ‘snake-bite’ piercing, which is described as studs in each corner of the lower lip.

He wore a white hooded top with matching tracksuit bottoms.
