A teenage boy had to be rescued by fire crews last night after he got stuck on a roof in Huddersfield.

The 14-year-old had climbed on to the roof of a storage building at Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park on Wakefield Road to recover his basketball.

But after climbing up the drainpipe and locating the ball he felt unsure about his exit from the 30ft high roof and the fire brigade were called.

Huddersfield crews were called to the park at 7.05pm and used a ladder to lead the boy to safety.

He was uninjured but somewhat embarrassed by the ordeal.
