A TEENAGER has appeared in court accused of stabbing a man as he robbed him of his phone and wallet.

The 16-year-old who cannot be named because of his age was before Huddersfield magistrates.

It is alleged that the boy was with two other males who approached the 19-year-old victim as he walked along Colne Road, at the footbridge over the River Colne, in the early hours of September 20.

The teenager was waiting for a friend at about 12.20am when the incident happened.

He suffered a knife wound to the chest and staggered to a nearby house.

He was taken to hospital where he spent several days.

Magistrates were told that his lung was punctured and that the stab wound had been ‘extremely close’ to severing his aorta.

They heard that the teenager’s Nokia phone and his black leather wallet were allegedly stolen during the robbery.

The 16-year-old faces charges of robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and malicious wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Tony Igo, of Brooks Buildings in Marsh, also appeared in court.

The 45-year-old is jointly charged with robbery of the mobile and wallet.

Both Igo and the 16-year-old were remanded in custody to appear before Bradford Crown Court on November 3.

A third teenager, a 16-year-old-boy, is currently on police bail in connection with the offence.
