A RASTRICK teenager will attend a high-powered business conference in Holland.

Daniel Lough, 18, will join the British delegation at the World Furniture Congress in June.

The trip, with the Association of British Furniture Manufacturers, is part of his prize after winning the Sir Alfred Tomkins Memorial Award for outstanding furniture industry apprentices.

Daniel, a third-year apprentice at Aspley-based J T Ellis Furniture, was chosen for the top honour by senior officials of the association.

Daniel was among scores of young apprentices from around the country to apply for the award by sending in details of achievements.

It follows his success last year when he was awarded the Geoff Carroll Memorial Cup by the Leeds College of Building for his skills in wood machining.

Daniel also won a bronze medal in the 2005 Skill Build competition for outstanding craft apprentices.
