A TEENAGER has been arrested after a spate of ‘flashing’ incidents.

The 19-year old man was detained in Slaithwaite on Friday morning on suspicion of outraging public decency.

The arrest was made in Spa Park, Slaithwaite, at 10.15am after police received reports that a man had exposed himself to a mother and her child who were walking in the park at around 9.40am that morning.

A police spokesman said: “Neither the woman nor child were harmed and both left the park, returning home before calling the police.

“The man has also been arrested on suspicion of committing two similar acts on Manchester Road, Slaithwaite, and on Coppice Drive, Netherton, last Wednesday.

“On that day between 5.25pm and 7.20pm, two local teenage girls separately reported to police they had seen a man exposing himself in public.’’

The man is currently on bail pending further inquiries.

Any witnesses to any of these incidents, or any other victims who may not have contacted the police, should phone the Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team on 01484 436855.
