A man is in hospital after being stabbed in Huddersfield.

The victim suffered four-inch deep cut to his back after the attack last night in Woodhouse Hill, Fartown.

He was kept in for treatment in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Police said he was attacked between 6.20pm and 6.30pm last night as he walked up Woodhouse Hill.

The 19-year-old man told officers he felt a sharp pain in his back and looked around to see a suspect running away towards Bradford Road.

Police have urged anyone with information to contact them via 101.
