A teenager was threatened with a dog lead in Greenhead Park during a robbery.

The broad-daylight attack happened on Friday at 4pm when a 19-year-old man was walking in the park and was approached by a man and woman.

The man in the couple then produced a metal chain dog lead and confronted the victim with it.

He was then searched before being forced to hand over his skateboard and cash.

The dog lead was swung in his direction but did not hit him.

A 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman have subsequently been arrested and remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Jim Griffiths of Huddersfield CID said: “A 19-year-old man has been approached in the park by two teenagers who are known to him.

“He has been threatened with a dog lead and robbed of his property.

“The victim was uninjured but clearly a distressed by what has happened.

“Two arrests have been made in connection with this incident.”
