FOUR teenagers had a lucky escape when arsonists set fire to their home early today.

One boy received a suspected broken finger while a girl banged her head and leg as they lowered themselves from the upstairs flat in Riddings Road, Sheepridge.

The group, three boys and a girl, were in their first- floor maisonette when the arsonists set fire to the property's ground floor entrance at about 3.40am.

The youngsters were alerted to the danger by a smoke alarm.

By the time a Huddersfield fire crew arrived, the door had completely burned away.

The attackers had poured petrol all over the uPVC door before igniting it.

Ambulance crews treated the injured girl and boy at the scene before taking them to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for check-ups.
