IT was the coldest night in 10 years – and it brought some stunning winter scenes.
Examiner photographers Peter Cottle and Paul Welch captured the raw cold with these shots of the canals through Huddersfield.
Both the Huddersfield Broad Canal, at Deighton, and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, at Aspley, froze over as temperatures stayed well below freezing.
The bitter cold yesterday came after a night when temperatures plummeted to -8°C.
But milder weather is now on the way, according to the experts.
