TEMPORARY traffic lights will have to be installed for BT engineers to mend a fault which have left 20 firms at a Lockwood mill without phones.

BT is liaising with Kirklees Council to install the lights at Bridge Street so engineers can work on underground cables serving Perseverance Mills, Lockwood Scar.

More than 20 businesses at the mill have been left without their BT phone lines since last Friday.

BT initially said the fault would be fixed on Wednesday this week – but businesses have now been told it will be Friday next week before they are up and running.

Firms at the mills were left without phones for several days last May after contractors accidentally severed an underground BT cable.
