IT’S a dogs life for Jack Russell terriers Lily and Rose after they were caged and then abandoned.

The canine duo were found by staff at Pets At Home when they arrived at the Great Northern Retail Park store yesterday morning.

The cute dogs – who were immediately named Lily and Rose by staff – were left dumped in the cage outside the store.

Oddly enough, a can of tuna fish had been left to feed them.

Now they are looking for a new home, hopefully where they can be together.

Store manager Natasha Slennett said: “They’re not puppies. They are maybe eight to 12 months old, but someone must know who they belong to.

“We’ve had rabbits and guinea pigs dumped outside the store before but never dogs. It’s very sad.”

The store fundraises for charity the West Yorkshire Dog’s Trust.

Lily and Rose will be handed over to the Trust if a new home cannot be found soon.

People can telephone the store on 01484 531221 if they can offer a good home to the canine couple.
