A LOCAL band have written their own unofficial Town anthem.

But The Scaramanga Six, who have released two albums and tour all over the country, are worried their rockin' ditty, Terriers On Heat, has been a bad omen for the club.

Guitarist and singer Paul Morricone, of Paddock, wrote it.

He said: "It was a few seasons ago when Town were pushing for promotion to the Premiership, the good old days when Marcus Stewart was shooting at will.

"Radio Five Live played our song then the next day, Town lost 2-0 at home to Swindon and went bottom of the league.

"When the same station played it again just before Christmas, the club went on to three or four straight defeats."

Happily, Town's fortunes now appear to be on the up.

But will the Scaramanga Six scupper the club's better times by finally recording the song?

They're planning to release a third album, Showboat, on their own label Wrath Records in April - and are thinking about including Terriers On Heat. Paul's brother and fellow band member Steven explains: "We've actually started a proper version of Terriers On Heat as part of the sessions for the new album, but finishing it will really depend on if we think there is any demand for the song!

"We're planning a full national tour and we'd love to play in Huddersfield, but there isn't really anywhere suitable."

Paul and Steven, singer and bassist in the band, are originally from Weston-Super-Mare.

But they've made Town their adopted team.

Paul, who arrived 10 years ago to study communications arts at Huddersfield University and never left, said: "It's a real rock and roll song, like Status Quo but speeded up. It's generated a lot of interest.

"At present, the only way to get hold of it is to download it as an MP3 through our website."
