Staff at a Bradley store were threatened with guns during a terrifying late-night robbery.

One male member of staff was injured in the raid at Tesco Express in Leeds Road at 10.50pm yesterday.

Police are now searching for the three men involved in the attack, which happened as staff were preparing to close for the night.

Two male staff members and one female were still working in the store minutes before it was due to shut at 11pm.

Three masked men entered, at least two of which were believed to be carrying firearms or pistols.

One of the male staff members was assaulted, although not seriously, before the men made off with cigarettes and money.

The men ran out of the store but it is not yet known what direction they were headed in or whether there was a car involved.

The staff involved in the armed robbery were described as upset and shaken by their ordeal.

Police spent the weekend speaking with the store and staff and checked CCTV footage as well as making house to house enquiries.

Detective Inspector Stef Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “This was clearly very frightening for the people involved.

“There has been some degree of violence used.”

The suspects are described as aged in their mid 20s and ranging in height from 5ft 8ins to 6ft.

They were wearing hoodies and hats and are believed to have had ski masks or balaclavas covering their faces.

Any witnesses are asked to contact DI Wiseman at Kirklees CID via 101.
