A hospice is to be given a fundraising boost in time for Christmas thanks to a 24 hour TV marathon presented by Phillip Schofield.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice at Brackenhall is to once again to be supported by ITV’s annual fundraising charity extravaganza.

The Text Santa! appeal will kick-off on December 1 and run for a full 24 hours, starting and finishing on This Morning.

Phillip said: “This is going to be exciting. The longest I have broadcast for is around eight hours for the Royal Wedding and again for the Diamond Jubilee.

“I am not sure what I have let myself in for but its live TV so there’s nowhere to hide. That’s a bit scary but Text Santa is well worth the effort.

“Hopefully, if viewers are as excited as I am, then some might be tempted to stick with me throughout the whole day.”

The hospice is benefiting from the appeal due to its partnership with charity Together for Short Lives.

Clare-Marie Taylor, head of marketing at the hospice, said: “We’re thrilled. It’s a great way to kick start this year’s appeal.

“Our charity runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week so our care staff know what it’s like to work all hours.

“We will be tuning in throughout the night to check that Phillip is still awake and hope people donate to this wonderful appeal.”

Viewers will get to see Phillip join the Loose Women panel for the day and speaking with friends and celebrities including Ant & Dec all the way from the Australian jungle on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
