A YOUNG woman was robbed at knifepoint as she walked home alone.

The 21-year-old victim was strolling on New North Road, Edgerton, at 10.45pm on Saturday when she noticed a gang of five or six youths behind her.

They disappeared, but a short while later she realised two were still following her.

They approached her from behind and one said: "Give us your bag or I'll stab you."

He held a knife to her face and stole her purse, containing £20, from her handbag.

The knifeman is white, aged 16 to 18, 5ft 8in tall and very slim. He had a long, thin face, a pale complexion and a deep, loud voice.

He wore a navy blue hooded top with white letters on the front.

His accomplice, who stood behind him all the time, is white, aged 14 to 16, around 5ft 4in tall and slim.

He also wore a blue hooded top.

Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "The other youths who were with these two know who they are. We would urge them to give us their names.

"Did anyone else see this gang hanging around the area before the robbery?" he added.
