A Fartown man has admitted to stealing more than £1,000 worth of goods from stores in Huddersfield.
Calvin Smith, of Shearings Cross Gardens, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday in custody.
The 30-year-old swiped £95 worth of cosmetics from the Home Bargains and Poundland stores in the town centre between May 26 and June 27.
On the most recent date Smith was caught out stealing after smirking at a member of Poundland staff as he left.
A police officer caught him with a bag filled with lipsticks and he obstructed her as he ran off.
He tested positive for the use of class A drug following his arrest for the offences.
Smith also pleaded guilty to the theft of items worth more than £1, 400 from Wilkinson at a previous hearing.
Ian Whiteley, mitigating, explained that Smith had an extensive record and had suffered a drugs relapse.
His case was adjourned until July 14 for sentencing and he was remanded in custody.
