A robbert fled empty-handed after trying to steal from a filling station.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident at a petrol station in Ravensthorpe.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a man walked into Ravensthorpe Petrol Station, on Huddersfield Road and approached the counter. He threatened the employee behind the counter, asking for cash from the till, but was disturbed by another customer and ran out of the shop.

The suspect is described as an Asian male, between 27 and 30, 6ft and medium build.

Det Con Richard Brooke, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are appealing to members of the public for them to come forward if they saw this man in the area this morning.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact me via 101 quoting reference 13160167886 or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
