A MAN asked to see an expensive bracelet in a jewellery shop and then ran off with it.

The thief walked into H Samuel at King Street at 1.15pm yesterday and asked to look at an £800 solid gold chunky curb bracelet.

But when the assistant put it on his wrist, he turned and ran out of the shop.

Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "The man was carrying a Beaverbrooks brochure so it may be he has visited other jewellery shops.

"Did anyone see him acting suspiciously in those shops?"

The man is African-Caribbean, in his mid 20s and thin with short black hair and a big gap in his teeth.

He wore a navy blue suit and a white shirt and tie.
