A COUPLE are to go ahead with a family wedding next week - even though their "home" has been stolen.

And the thieves who hitched up the £15,000 caravan from Lindley also got away with wedding outfits and wedding presents.

Patrick and Hannah Fitzsimons were using the Hobby Prestige caravan as a temporary home while they renovated their new house in Cowrakes Close, Lindley.

But while both were out at work, two men in a stolen van turned up and drove off with the caravan and contents.

Those contents included many presents belonging to the couple's 29-year-old daughter Venessa, who is to marry Daniel Hodgson, 30, in a Scottish castle.

"My mum is heartbroken," said Venessa, of Longwood.

"They had everything they needed in the caravan while the house was being renovated and have lost the lot.

"The thieves have taken all their clothing, household goods, crockery and electrical items.

"But we were also storing some of the wedding presents people have given to us in the caravan, as well as wedding outfits for my mum and dad.

"We had also bought Christmas presents for our two-year-old daughter Alexandra and those have obviously vanished as well."

Venessa and Daniel are determined to put the misery behind them next week when they wed at Comlongon Castle in Dumfries.

But they and Venessa's parents hope someone will be able to help them track down the stolen caravan.

The 18-month-old caravan was towed away by a large van. Police, who are investigating the theft, were given details of the registration number but inquiries which led them to Preston have proved the numbers were false.

Anyone with information about the stolen van should contact Huddersfield police on 01484 436659.
