Thirsty drinkers face a long detour to a Huddersfield pub - because roadworks have shut Drinker Lane!

It means people heading to the popular Three Acres pub and restaurant at Roydhouse near Shelley have to drive several miles through Kirkburton and Emley to get there.

Yorkshire Water have started work on new mains connections on a narrow stretch of Drinker Lane and have had to shut the road to through traffic on the Shelley side of the pub.

Diversions to the pub are through Kirkburton and Jagger Lane, Emley.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
