RESIDENTS of Thistle Street, off Leeds Road, Huddersfield, were plunged into darkness on Thursday night as fire crews tackled a blaze in a terraced house.
Crews from Huddersfield and Elland stations were called to the fire in a kitchen at 9pm.
They had to ask utility service providers to switch off the electricity supply to the street as they dealt with live wires which posed a potential danger.
The power was off for about an hour.
There were no signs of the occupants of the rented house either during or after the fire.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
