Huddersfield’s skies were ablaze with fireworks last night as thousands turned out for a stunning display.

Huddersfield Town were behind the huge event and thousands of onlookers at the Canalside display were bedazzled by the dozens of rockets and Catherine Wheels lighting up the skies.

The event also featured live entertainment and a family fairground.

Huddersfield Town’s mascot Terry the Terrier and players Harry Bunn and Sean Scannell were also on hand to say hello to young fans at the event, which was in association with Pulse radio station.

The spectacle was seen by more than 3,000 people, higher than the 2,500 that turned out for the event last year.

A food and drink festival was also on offer for the hundreds of families who came to see the spectacular show.

Stalls sold the best of local produce including cheeses, crafts and gifts.

Huddersfield Town’s events co-ordinator Katie Barraclough said: “After the success of last year’s event, when over 2,500 people attended, we wanted to make this year’s Firework Spectacular even better.

“It is fantastic that, with partner Standard Fireworks, the club is able to put on such a great, family-orientated event.”
