Three youths - one of them only 13 - have been arrested by police investigating two armed robberies in Huddersfield.

Both victims were threatened with a large kitchen knife but neither was injured.

The incidents happened within seven minutes of each other last night - Thursday.

Police confirmed all three suspects were arrested in Huddersfield town centre, a few hundred yards from where the two crimes took place near Greenhead Park.

The youths, who are to be questioned later today, are aged 13, 16 and 17.

The first incident was in Park Drive, close to Trinity Street, at 9.30pm when a 26-year-old man was stopped.

He had a kitchen knife held to his throat but managed to run away and report the matter to police.

Seven minutes later, as police were investigating, a 19-year-old was stopped in Park Avenue and had a knife held to his throat. He was forced to hand over his wallet and his mobile phone.
