DOZENS of people have stepped up to help Kirkwood Hospice.

The fundraisers sweated their way through three hours of aerobics yesterday .

The annual Aerobathon took place at Huddersfield Sports Centre with exercises including step, body combat and street dancing.

Kirklees Active Leisure organised the event.

Spokeswoman Rosey James said: "People were really up for it and the atmosphere was great."

Each participant paid £5 to take part, while some raised more through sponsorship.

Rosey hopes the event will bring in more than £2,000 for the hospice.

And it wasn't just exercise fanatics who were helping out the good cause.

Rosey, who took part herself, said: "Some of the participants are mega-fit and some of us are a little less so.

"When you finish you feel on a high, but a few hours later the pain and fatigue hits you."
