NEIGHBOURS saved three people trapped in a house after arsonists pushed a blazing bin against their front door.
The incident happened about 10.15pm yesterday in Ouzelwell Road, Thornhill Lees, Dewsbury.
Dewsbury fire station officer Ronnie Goldwater said: "Somebody had put the green bin against the door and set it on fire, trapping the occupants inside.
"They couldn't get out of the house because of the fire raging outside the door."
Neighbours put out the blaze by throwing water on the flaming bin and door.
"The neighbours started throwing water from anything they could fill," said Mr Goldwater.
Thanks to them, the three female occupants were able to escape just as two Dewsbury fire crews arrived. The entrance to the house was smoke-logged.
Mr Goldwater lashed out at the arsonists. "It was crazy. They endangered the lives of those people," he said.
