CARS raced through Huddersfield in a high-speed chase.

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter was called in to help as three force vehicles pursued a Vauxhall Astra through Deighton and Fartown this afternoon.

The chase began when the vehicle failed to stop for officers on Ochrewell Avenue in Deighton at 12.35pm today.

Police stopped the car a mile away on Woodhouse Hill in Fartown, close to North Huddersfield Trust School.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Two police cars were parked on Woodhouse Hill at 1.15pm while officers spoke to a hand-cuffed young man. He was taken away five minutes later.
