MORE than 50 students had to be evacuated after a kitchen hob was left on.
Firefighters were called to Huddersfield University’s Storthes Hall campus in Kirkburton at 2am today after a flat filled with smoke.
A jug of oil left next to a burning hob was to blame for the incident.
Huddersfield fire crews used breathing apparatus and ventilation fans to clear the smoke.
Nobody was injured.
